Special Education Parent Advisory Group of East Hanover and Parent Resources

As a component of the East Hanover Special Service Department’s effort to expand communication with our community of parents, a Special Education Parent Advisory Group has been developed. This group consists of parents, each having a child or children with varying types of disabilities. School staff are also an important part of this group since this strengthens the home and school connection for all children. Our mission is to support and assist parents of children with special needs.

Together we can make a difference!

The goal of the group is to:

  • Support and advocacy for families with children who have special needs

  • Develop more effective communication between parents, faculty and special services personnel in the schools

  • Provide programs and information for parents and professionals on current topics in special education

  • Improve the educational, recreational, vocational and social programs for our children

  • Keep abreast of federal, state and local legislation that may affect the education of exceptional children

  • Identify ways to include out-of-district parents and students in district opportunities
